now, i know it's supposed to be hot, but this is ridiculous
ok, i haven't updated the blog in three weeks. my fault. bear with me.
so all sorts of things going on...it's going to crack 100 degrees here this weekend, with a heat index higher than 110. i know it's almost august and it's supposed to be warm, but this is ridiculous. temperatures in the upper 90s with dewpoints in the 70s are what i expect in southern illinois, but not near chicago. it's so warm i don't want to do anything except go home and go to bed, and lay in the air conditioning. it just zaps the energy out of you. it's really getting ridiculous, i hope the entire month of august isn't 100 degrees every day, or we're moving to alaska. (just kidding.)
more bombings in london today...these weren't fatal like the other ones, but still completely and totally serious. it should always be taken seriously when these things happen, especially two weeks apart. time for the world to wake up, put on its game face, and start fighting back. i do like the concept london has of the 2,500 security cameras monitoring the subway systems. you try and pull something, they'll catch you. they got the video of the bombers and traced it. that technology would serve a lot of good purposes in the united states.
sounds like senator durbin is meeting with the new supreme court nominee john roberts tomorrow. i hope this isn't a horrible, nasty fight. no one wants that, and it isn't good for the country. i mean, we elect these people to represent us, and they show their appreciation by fighting like little mean kids. they're already looking for dirt on roberts. hopefully, the process will work the way it should, everyone will see history in the making, and it won't turn in to a playground brawl.
not much else happening here.
